Gage's first day of school last Monday went well. I made it to the crosswalk before I started to cry. Something about the crossing guard lady telling Gage to have a great day at school just got me. I got control of myself real quick because I DID NOT want Gage to know I was crying. We made it into the classroom, found his name tag and his hook for his backpack, and then he sat on the floor with the other kids. I realized I was no longer needed and did not want to be "that mom" that doesn't ever leave. So I went over to him and told him how excited it was that he was in school, that I was proud of him, to make good choices, that I loved him, and that I would meet him at the flag pole after school. With that I promptly left and made it out the door of the classroom before the tears hit again. I kept my head down so the other mom's coming in wouldn't see me. I was a little embarrassed. When I got back to the crosswalk, the crossing lady asked me if I cried. I told her I was in the middle of it but that I did really good and didn't cry in the classroom. Gage had a really good first day of school. He said he played at recess, wrote his name, played bingo, and made friends with everyone, but didn't know their names. All in all, things went as well as I could have expected.

P.S. Yesterday on the second day of school, I was waiting in the hallway before Gage started school. He was in the classroom waiting in a line to turn his folder into his teacher and he told me to go home. I guess that means he's doing just fine. He did the same thing today. Apparently Gage doesn't know that I have feelings too. :)
Today in church they had us stand up and read our names to everyone as we are new. As they called out my name, I stoop up with Kyah. We were on the far right of the chapel and I was holding Kyah facing out so she was looking at everyone. As soon as I stood up Kyah said, "Mommy I have to go potty." And she wasn't quiet. I was so embarrassed!! I sat down real quick.
Then, Gage bring this picture home from Sunday School.
At first glance I thought it was a ladybug. Upon questioning, I found out that it is a cow with four spots. And the pink spot is a butterfly. When I asked Gage what the black spot on the ground was, he responded, with pride I might add, "cow poop!" I really hope he did not tell his teachers that!
Anyone else out there cry when Shawn Johnson won the gold medal on the balance beam! I really really do love the Olympics.
And there isn't an Olympic night that goes by that I don't dream of how I can still make it to the Olympics. I tend to wonder things like, "what if I'm super good at the breaststroke and I just don't know it. I'm going to go time myself."
I know the month is 1/3 of the way over, but hopefully we can get this book read by Sept. I haven't started it yet either. It is a 400 pager, but we can do it! So go to your local library and get it, or I know you can buy it at Target. Happy reading.

First of all, 16 feet of a truck just isn't what it used to be. After many tears, way too much stress, renting a trailer, and tossing some items, we got loaded up and ready to leave.
Things that got tossed: 1. toddler bed 2. double jogger 3. kids kitchen set 4. night stand 5. garbage can 6. bassinet
Highlights of the trip: 1. The kids were AMAZING! 2. We made the trip over the course of two days, which is the way to go for sure. 3. Lots of beef jerky 4. Fun times with walkie talkies 5. Kyah never got car sick!
Lowlights of the road trip: 1. Gage clogging the toilet at a gas station and having to use the plunger to fix it. 2. Getting attacked by mosquito's. LITERALLY! 3. It took 17.5 hours. 4. Kyah wet her pants during a nap, which soaked her car seat, sometime during the first three hours of the trip. Yuck.
So we are here, we love our house, and the neighbors have been so friendly. They came out to help us unload the truck and have even brought us flowers from their yard. I think we are going to love it here.
